The Professor has a dome for every occasion. [Aug. 23rd, 2010|12:15 pm]
[mood |thoughtfulthoughtful]

Apparantly I just like not posting because I do it so as little as possible. I always mean to post because I do have things I want to talk about and I do want some opinions, but I just tend to forget to do it and by the time I remember I'm so 'meh' about it that it doesn't really matter anymore. Laziness is apparantly one of my close friends, though you wouldn't know it by the sheer amount of busy I have been in the past couple weeks. This always seems to happen though and I never understand why I'm so surprised. If I have a free weekend, I always actively look for things to do, despite my want to just sit down and play games.

My busy busy weekends started with a trip down to Ocean City, NJ with my friends, Ed, Kurt, Commie, Meghan, Amanda, Rob, Kat and Andrew. The trip down was fun and the weekend was a blast. I also got to see my uncle who I have not seen in years along with my cousin and her two daughters, who are absolutely adorable. I also got to meet my uncle's new wife and my two new cousins who work at my uncle's pet shop on the boardwalk. They are so cool and they are into anime and video games just as much as I am. After we had a fantastic brunch with my family, we trekked our way back up to meet our friends Abi and Rovner. Abi had been kind enough to retool my Mustang costume while she was borrowing it. Then we all went out to Friendly's and enjoyed a dinner together before we set off for home in which Ed managed to beat Maverick Hunter X in roughly 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Then we come to the next week, which was Otakon weekend. This was the first year that my brother and father did not come with us as they were on a family cruise that I could not attend due to my actuary test. However, my friend, Alex, decided that he would take the trip down and seemed to have a good time. I got to meet up with an old friend Chrissy who I had been unable to see in a while. The two of us, along with my gf, Jolie, sat in line for over 3 hours to get Ed Eleric's autographed. He had a fun little freakout that I was cosplaying as Mustang, complemented my costume and signed my watch. Meanwhile, he had a fangasm when he saw that my friend Chrissy was cosplaying as Tendou from Tokyo Majin. She gave him one of her props and he made her sign it. I have never seen someone so happy before, she was in tears as she left. I also got to see my friends Jess, Rena and Dan who I have just realized as I was posting this now that I have to see you guys sometime soon because I miss hanging out with you. There was a fire alarm pulled during the con which was interesting if only to see thousands upon thousands of cosplayers standing around outside the center and then watching them all sprint across the street when they could re-enter. All in all, I had a great time though it really was not the same without my dad and brother.

The weekend after otakon was a rare day of rest as my family returned home and I decided to stay home with my family and talked about the trip. Two weekends ago, started off with a big group trip to see Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. I must say that I love pretty much everything about this movie. For trying to cram six volumes of plot into a 2 hour movie, they did a fantastic job. Afterwards, we all went to Burger King and enjoyed some food before everyone went their separate ways. The next day after I finished my day of work at Gamestop, my girlfriend and her friend picked me up and we all went to Medieval Times, which is always an amazing place to go. Good times are always had and I had a good drinking partner in Jolie's friend Jessie. We were on the Red Knight's team who unfortunately lost but he was so much fun to cheer for. The guy really fed off the cheers and he pandered to the group, making it more fun. After that fun, I was able to get myself together enough to go see a second viewing of Scott Pilgrim which was just as good as the first time.

Now, fast forward to this past weekend. It started with myself, my friend Eric, Jolie and my best friend Ashley going out to Hoboken to see the movie 'On the Waterfront' which was being shown at the Pier A Park, right on the Hudson River. It was a very interesting movie about dock workers and the mafia and if you're into black and white movies, it's definitely a must see movie. On Saturday, I went to Dorney Park with my friends Meghan and Commie. For the longest time, I had been afraid of roller coasters due in part to my fear of heights. When I had gone to Hershey Park, I had slightly gotten over it by going on the wooden roller coasters. This trip, I have pretty much beaten my fears. I went on every roller coaster except one which suspends you in the air for a second and it feels like you're going to fall out of your chair. No thanks for that. Those roller coasters were so much fun though, I can't believe I missed out on it for all these years. Sure, there are still some I won't go on, but those are far fewer than the previously. After the park, we hit up an Applebee's and had some good food while we watched some football. Man, am I happy to be able to watch the Steelers play again. Sunday was a weird feeling kind of day. It was the day my little brother moved into college. When we got there, his roommate was moving in so we all got to play musical door room until we figured out a way for the room work without having to bunk the beds. It seemed to work out pretty well and he seemed happy with everything. They are doing a pre-orientation program which is taking them into the city a few times to get the lay of the land and such. Since we left though, I've been pretty bummed out. Out of everyone in my family, I was the closest with him and I'm so used to seeing him at the dining room table on his computer that everytime I look I expect to see him there. It's a weird feeling seeing as I was not that way with my sister.

If you tl;dr'd that I'll leave something at the bottom for you. I am currently playing Enchanted Arms and Half-Minute Hero. Enchanted Arms is by and large a terrible game but the gamer in me wants this to be over and done with. Half-Minute Hero, on the other hand, is a great game and a must-have for any PSP owner. I'm currently re-reading through Scott Pilgrim and looking for new series to watch so if you have any ideas, let me know.

[music |Have a Nice Day-Bon Jovi]

First and foremost, Merry Christmas to all my F-listers!! The Christmas holiday really gets me in good spirits (despite how much my sister company's boss tries to kill it for me.) I'm looking forward to all the traveling I'll be doing with my girlfriend in the next two days to visit families and celebrate since that is really what Christmas is all about. Last weekend Jolie and I got snowed in at a very good friend of ours and we had a blast playing games and watching Christmas Specials. I can't remember having that much fun during the Christmas Holidays in past years so I was very glad to have been able to get over there. (<3 you Amanda, can't wait to hang out again).

A bit off-topic, but I did go out and see Avatar on Monday and it had to be the longest movie I've watched since the extended editions of Lord of the Rings. It clocks in at almost 3 hours in length but boy is it a good movie. I'm hoping to get out to see it with Jolie sometime this weekend since I know she'll love it. Definitely going to try to see it in IMAX again since the 3D was some of the best I had ever seen.

Even more off-topic, This message is for Jess, Rena and Dan. I'm already aware that Dan is planning on coming down Friday night, January 15th and leaving on Monday morning, January 18. Did you guys want to come up and hang out as well? I've been talking to my dad about making room by putting the truck in the garage so you can come in a separate car from Dan and don't have to stay as long as he is. Let me know what you want to do, I have plenty of new things to show you. =)

Alright, I'll just repeat this one more time, Merry Christmas and/or Happy Holidays to everyone and have a Safe and Healthy New Year, I'll speak to most of you in 2010. =)

In Mexico, you know what they call Twinkies? "Los submarinos." [Oct. 22nd, 2009|04:30 pm]
[mood |cheerfulcheerful]

Wow, seems like only yesterday I had not posted, (probably because it was...for the past 8 weeks or so XD) so I'm guessing an update is in order. Otakon (yea I've been pretty lazy) was a blast as it always was and it was the second time I got to enjoy it with my girlfriend, Jolie. Met all my friends again and had a really fun time. The week after I went to my friend Commie's beach house down in Ocean City with a bunch of my friends. It was my first time actually being able to go down and I had so much fun. The two other times I had been invite I wasn't able to make it because of scheduling but I was glad to go and I'd love to go again if I'm invited. Then, the week after that, I went on vacation with my family, Jolie and Cara's boyfriend Sean, down to Fort Lauderdale. It was one of the few times we had gone down to Florida and not gone to Orlando but I had as much fun as if we were in Orlando. It was also the first vacation I went on with Jolie, so it had some special significance.

To top off an awesome three weeks, my boss even paid me for my vacation, which I didn't expect since I didn't have the time. Just another reason why I absolutely love my job. At the end of August, I also went down to Jess and Rena's to watch the awesome show, Baccano (Definitely should watch it if you haven't already). It's always nice to see friends from far, far away but it could have used a little Jolie (yes, I know you're reading =P). Quite an eventful month which is followed by a fairly uneventful month. I honestly can't quite remember anything of significance about September aside from my friend, Joe's, 25th birthday party down the shore where we drank, played Rock Band and watched Monster vs. Aliens (again, an awesome movie). October, has been another fairly eventful month, however.

This month involved me seeing Zombieland no less than three times and loving it everytime. Seriously, go see if you haven't; zombies + parody = win. I also saw the new Gerard Butler movie 'Law Abiding Citizen' which is a very twisted, but very good movie. The gore is implied (which is really one scene) and you see the results but that's it. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the movie. However, the icing on the cake is that this past Sunday I went to Medieval Times with my friend, Kat, for her birthday and a bunch of our mutual friends. We had the Green Knight, who was consequently the most badass and the evil one, and our group was definitely the loudest; I think we even surprised the green knight but he was playing it up. We had so much, it makes me want to go back with some of my other friends (hint hint) especially since there is one relatively close to me and there's one in baltimore.

And that brings us up to speed. ^_^ It feels good to be back.

This is a warning for all friends I shall be seeing/speaking with in the near future. I saw District 9, and it was awesome. If you're planning on seeing it, please see it so I can talk to you about it. That is all. XD

Ok, so while I'm on vacation, Japan announces a new POP Figure, that being Bartholomew Kuma. Standing in at roughly twice the size of Luffy's POP, this figure is massive and weighs in at about $83 without shipping. It's coming out in November, which probably means I'll preorder it. Then, I go to rightstuf's website to find multiple revelations. 1) They have started to sell the POP figures, 2) Season 2 Part 4 is coming out in November, and 3) They currently have volumes 22 to 48 for preorder, all coming out before March 2010. I go to find out what's going on, since Rightstuf only typically put up manga 2 or 3 volumes ahead of time. What I find is that One Piece is getting the rapid release treatment that Naruto got last year. They infact plan on putting out volume up to volume 53 by June 2009.

...What a way to top off an amazing vacation. I'll talk about that later, though.

"Hey, Vegeta look. A Pokemon." "I'm not a Pokemon I'm Chao-Tzu!" [Jul. 21st, 2009|01:00 pm]
Otakon just seemed to come and go this weekend. As always, it's one of the most fun times I have each year and I'm always bummed to see it go (and since everyone on my f-list I saw at the con, I don't need to go into too much detail. Being at the con remined me how much I missed everyone (The Loders, The Greys, Luco, Amanda and Rob, etc.) and how much more time I want to spend with them. Jess and Rena are trying to set aside a weekend to watch Baccano, to which I'm uber excited. I only really watched the first two episodes but that show was great from what I saw.

After months of my brother nagging me, I actually sat down to watch Dragon Ball Z: The Abridged Series. Next to Yugioh:The Abridged Series, it's one of the funnies parodies I've ever seen. If you haven't seen it yet, definitely do. I've also been giving consideration to going to Katsucon again this year (er, next year). I haven't fully decided but knowing who is going would definitely help the decision. *hint hint*

When Life gives you lemons, You squirt it in his eye and take his treasure [Jul. 1st, 2009|04:02 pm]
[mood |excitedexcited]

I remember when Funimation first announced that they were localizing One Piece and would put out a 13 episode box set every three or four months at best, meaning that we'd, at best, get 3 or 4 a month. Then, 2009 came and I was estactic to see that they had done away with that idea and opted for every other month.

Well, I just checked Right Stuf and they have Season 2 Box 2 set to come out August 25th. They also have Season 2 Box 3 set to come out September 29th. I think I may die if this is true.

"Grunka, Lunka Dunkady Darmed guard- SHUT THE HELL UP!" [May. 31st, 2009|06:50 pm]
[mood |annoyedannoyed]

So, this entire weekend I've been sick with post nasal drip, making my throat kill, my nose be constantly congested, and my head throbbing. I started feeling this way on Thursday night before seeing Up, which is a fantastic movie. Then it got real bad on Friday, so bad that my bosses let me go home early. I was feeling a little better yesterday but the doctor suggested that I stay home and rest. There was just one problem, I had to work at Gamestop that night. Now, I rarely ask for time off ot call out sick on short notice. In fact, the only other time I did was the night before Halo 3 released. And, combined with the fact that I used to take shifts for everyone at the store, so someone should be able to take my shift. WRONG! No one was willing to take my shift so I had to drag myself into work for 5 and a half hours when I felt like shit, and in fact felt worse as the night went on because I wasn't resting. Well, they can kiss any chances of my covering for them again goodbye. I think the worst part about it was the guy I was working with had been sick too and wasn't given the tme off he needed. Well, that's what I get for working at a job that hires people who just don't give a crap.

Anyway, in other news, I came across another article that just makes me hope the guy involved gets in a lot of trouble. My girlfriend had mentioned before that Funimation was going to start a simulcast with One Piece starting with the newest epsiodes 403. The idea was that the episode would go up on their site about a hour or so after the ep aired in Japan. Now, as a One Piece lover and anime enthusiast, I was excited because 1) this would make watching One Piece a lot easier and 2)If this was a hit, it would be a good launching point for anime in general. I think there may be a official site similar for Naruto but I'd rather read the manga since the anime's fillers are just downers. Anyhow, getting of track here. Apparantly, a hacker went onto the website and essentially stole the material and put it up on another website. Because of this, Toei isn't allowing the US or Canada to simulcast it for quite some time. So, thanks to an asshat, he's essentially screwed Funimation and One Piece fans over big time. I just honestly hope it was worth it to him as once they find out who it is, he's gonna have his ass in the fire.

Guess it's time for an Update. [May. 9th, 2009|08:36 am]
Wow, I managed to go six weeks without posting. I'm a bit proud of myself for that. Life's been alright so far. I've officially been at my new job for three months, and it really doesn't feel like it. In my head, I still can't really believe I have a 9-5 Monday to Friday job. It feels like only yesterday where I was still on college and working at gamestop. I still do from time to time to get my discount but it's not the same feeling, ya know?

So Wolverine Origins came out last week. Say what you want about the movie, but I love Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. I still haven't seen the movie yet, but that could be the only thing good in the movie and I would still be satisfied. Well, that and Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool. I don't care how much they screwed him up, they accomplished what I had hoped putting him in a movie would accomplish. Fox announced this week that they would make a Deadpool spinoff movie more akin to the 'less than sane' comic book version who breaks the fourth wall. I. cannot. wait.

While still on the subject, I was listening to a radio interview with Hugh Jackman and the host asked him about the most interesting experience he's had with a fan. He preceded to talk about one time when he was performing in "A man from Oz" As he was leaning in to kiss the other guy, one of the attendees stood up and yelled, "Don't do it, Wolverine!" I thought it was really funny so I thought I'd share.

Next up is the new Star Trek movie, which I was actually able to see on Thursday. Let me just say this, since I'm not sure who is a Star Trek fan and who isn't. Even without watching the series, the movie is stilla very good sci-fi film. I'd reccomend seeing it if you get the chance. I'm gonna see it again with Jolie since she couldn't come with me and my friends on Thursday. What can I say? Apparantly JJ Abrams can take anything and make it gold.
