Apparantly I just like not posting because I do it so as little as possible. I always mean to post because I do have things I want to talk about and I do want some opinions, but I just tend to forget to do it and by the time I remember I'm so 'meh' about it that it doesn't really matter anymore. Laziness is apparantly one of my close friends, though you wouldn't know it by the sheer amount of busy I have been in the past couple weeks. This always seems to happen though and I never understand why I'm so surprised. If I have a free weekend, I always actively look for things to do, despite my want to just sit down and play games.
My busy busy weekends started with a trip down to Ocean City, NJ with my friends, Ed, Kurt, Commie, Meghan, Amanda, Rob, Kat and Andrew. The trip down was fun and the weekend was a blast. I also got to see my uncle who I have not seen in years along with my cousin and her two daughters, who are absolutely adorable. I also got to meet my uncle's new wife and my two new cousins who work at my uncle's pet shop on the boardwalk. They are so cool and they are into anime and video games just as much as I am. After we had a fantastic brunch with my family, we trekked our way back up to meet our friends Abi and Rovner. Abi had been kind enough to retool my Mustang costume while she was borrowing it. Then we all went out to Friendly's and enjoyed a dinner together before we set off for home in which Ed managed to beat Maverick Hunter X in roughly 1 hour and 15 minutes.
Then we come to the next week, which was Otakon weekend. This was the first year that my brother and father did not come with us as they were on a family cruise that I could not attend due to my actuary test. However, my friend, Alex, decided that he would take the trip down and seemed to have a good time. I got to meet up with an old friend Chrissy who I had been unable to see in a while. The two of us, along with my gf, Jolie, sat in line for over 3 hours to get Ed Eleric's autographed. He had a fun little freakout that I was cosplaying as Mustang, complemented my costume and signed my watch. Meanwhile, he had a fangasm when he saw that my friend Chrissy was cosplaying as Tendou from Tokyo Majin. She gave him one of her props and he made her sign it. I have never seen someone so happy before, she was in tears as she left. I also got to see my friends Jess, Rena and Dan who I have just realized as I was posting this now that I have to see you guys sometime soon because I miss hanging out with you. There was a fire alarm pulled during the con which was interesting if only to see thousands upon thousands of cosplayers standing around outside the center and then watching them all sprint across the street when they could re-enter. All in all, I had a great time though it really was not the same without my dad and brother.
The weekend after otakon was a rare day of rest as my family returned home and I decided to stay home with my family and talked about the trip. Two weekends ago, started off with a big group trip to see Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. I must say that I love pretty much everything about this movie. For trying to cram six volumes of plot into a 2 hour movie, they did a fantastic job. Afterwards, we all went to Burger King and enjoyed some food before everyone went their separate ways. The next day after I finished my day of work at Gamestop, my girlfriend and her friend picked me up and we all went to Medieval Times, which is always an amazing place to go. Good times are always had and I had a good drinking partner in Jolie's friend Jessie. We were on the Red Knight's team who unfortunately lost but he was so much fun to cheer for. The guy really fed off the cheers and he pandered to the group, making it more fun. After that fun, I was able to get myself together enough to go see a second viewing of Scott Pilgrim which was just as good as the first time.
Now, fast forward to this past weekend. It started with myself, my friend Eric, Jolie and my best friend Ashley going out to Hoboken to see the movie 'On the Waterfront' which was being shown at the Pier A Park, right on the Hudson River. It was a very interesting movie about dock workers and the mafia and if you're into black and white movies, it's definitely a must see movie. On Saturday, I went to Dorney Park with my friends Meghan and Commie. For the longest time, I had been afraid of roller coasters due in part to my fear of heights. When I had gone to Hershey Park, I had slightly gotten over it by going on the wooden roller coasters. This trip, I have pretty much beaten my fears. I went on every roller coaster except one which suspends you in the air for a second and it feels like you're going to fall out of your chair. No thanks for that. Those roller coasters were so much fun though, I can't believe I missed out on it for all these years. Sure, there are still some I won't go on, but those are far fewer than the previously. After the park, we hit up an Applebee's and had some good food while we watched some football. Man, am I happy to be able to watch the Steelers play again. Sunday was a weird feeling kind of day. It was the day my little brother moved into college. When we got there, his roommate was moving in so we all got to play musical door room until we figured out a way for the room work without having to bunk the beds. It seemed to work out pretty well and he seemed happy with everything. They are doing a pre-orientation program which is taking them into the city a few times to get the lay of the land and such. Since we left though, I've been pretty bummed out. Out of everyone in my family, I was the closest with him and I'm so used to seeing him at the dining room table on his computer that everytime I look I expect to see him there. It's a weird feeling seeing as I was not that way with my sister.
If you tl;dr'd that I'll leave something at the bottom for you. I am currently playing Enchanted Arms and Half-Minute Hero. Enchanted Arms is by and large a terrible game but the gamer in me wants this to be over and done with. Half-Minute Hero, on the other hand, is a great game and a must-have for any PSP owner. I'm currently re-reading through Scott Pilgrim and looking for new series to watch so if you have any ideas, let me know.
